Super Tuesday was Super Cool!

Super TuesdayIf you watched Super Tuesday coverage the other night, you may have seen a technology which in my opinion is quite amazing. CNN is using a new application called “Perceptive Pixel” which in essence is an interactive, touch screen user interface.

Wolf Blitzer was the host, who walked through a massive set with maps, countdown timers, results data and fellow colleagues — all which led to quite a production. John King was the on-set telestrator, if you will, who “drove” the screens filled with data as Blitzer provided commentary and lead-ins. Combining this technology with the moment-by-moment changes in the races made for quite a ride. Kudos to CNN for taking something as dry as election results and turning it into truly engaging content. The technology really helped the viewer understand how the states were divided, what areas were “blue” or “red” — and why, and also showed in the “winner-doesn’t-take-all-states” how the delegates would be awarded. I’m not sure what Emmy Award the broadcast would be up for, I am sure that they have to be the ones to beat.
